According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and several other national reporters across the league, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys are “working to finalize a trade” that will send wide receiver George Pickens to America’s Team. Pickens, a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, spent his entire three-year career with the Black and Gold.

BREAKING: Steelers, Cowboys Agree to George Pickens Trade
George Pickens is the latest talented but troubled wide receiver to force a trade out of Pittsburgh. Entering the league as a highly-talented player with off-field issues, the Georgia product immediately established himself as a reliable vertical threat. Using his large frame and above-average athleticism to make plays, the veteran finished the 2024 season with 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns while catching passes from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Despite the strong play, Pickens seemingly wore out his welcome with the Steelers. Mike Tomlin’s squad traded for D.K. Metcalf earlier in the offseason, a player with a similar skillset to Pickens. Now, the former Seahawk will be the unquestioned WR1 for this offense.
Pickens originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Georgia product began his career on the right foot. Appearing in all 17 games while making 12 starts, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 52 receptions, 801 yards, and four touchdowns from the underwhelming quarterback duo of Mitchell Trubisky and Kenny Pickett.
The wide receiver built on this impressive debut with his best season in 2023. Starting in 16 games while appearing in all 17 contests, Pickens recorded 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns while leading the league with 18.1 yards per reception. Thanks in part to his efforts, Pittsburgh made the playoffs but lost in the first round to the Buffalo Bills.
Prior to his trade, George Pickens had recorded 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns since joining the NFL.
