After salvaging the offensive pass attack for quarterback Jalen Hurts this offseason, one wide receiver, Jahan Dotson could be on thin ice this 2025 campaign. According to one report, a source believes the Philadelphia Eagles could be willing to move on from the wide receiver, as the team won’t hesitate to stick with the new weapons they’re bringing in. Dotson will be the No. 3 receiver behind DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown. The Eagles haven’t had plenty of success finding a new set of offensive weapons that could support Brown and Smith.
After trading for John Metchie this offseason and claiming Javon Baker, the team could be slowly developing receivers to replace Dotson. Selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Penn State product was sent to the Eagles after spending the first two seasons with the Washington Commanders. Dotson didn’t put up the best numbers, recording just 19 receptions for 219 receiving yards, but he did contribute largely in the Super Bowl win. Despite that, no one should put it past the Eagles to dangle Dotson on the trade block if he shows signs of struggles on the field this 2025 regular season.
However, even if Metchie and Darius Cooper outplay Dotson, it could put him in danger.

Breaking: Former NFL First-Round Pick Jahan Dotson On “Thin Ice” – 4 Potential Suitors
Best Fits
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers could still be in the market for a wide receiver. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh wants to provide a strong run game for the offense, but what about the passing game? They can’t afford their top 5 quarterback, Justin Herbert, to hand the ball off for the majority of their plays. Wide Receiver Quentin Johnston still hasn’t been living up to the hype, so that leaves veteran Keenan Allen and 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey to make the bigger plays on the field.
With Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith in their first year, they should acquire another bodied receiver that can help separate the aerial attack for Herbert’s offense.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, no one should rule out a reunion with the Washington Commanders. It will be hard since they are bringing in Kendrick Bourne for a visit, so the Commanders might be done with Dotson for the rest of his career. Jayden Daniels has yet to play with Dotson, so these two could develop a strong WR3 chemistry behind Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel if Luke McCaffrey can’t perform up to their standards.
Dallas Cowboys
It’s been some dark times for the Dallas Cowboys, and it will probably get worse before any improvement happens. However, this shouldn’t stop them from boosting their receiving corps no matter who’s on the team. George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb are an exciting and electrifying potential duo, so why not add a third to help Jalen Tolbert in the slot?
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best receiver groups in the league. The team could easily win a Super Bowl if DeAndre Hopkins continues to make progress as a deep threat behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Hopkins is aging, so for the Ravens to finally find their long-term No. 3 option, Dotson might be a fit.
