Breaking: Former Seahawks Third Rounder Could Be On Trade Block

October 19, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite signing a three-year contract this season with the Tennessee Titans, the former Seahawk linebacker Cody Barton could be on the trade block. According to Bleacher Report, the source believes that the Titans should trade Barton since he still has value as the team is nowhere near being a reliable postseason contender. They’ve found their adequate quarterback in Cam Ward through this past NFL Draft, but they need the extra draft picks to build around him for next year. In their losing record this year, it’s safer for the Titans to tank this 2025 campaign and figure out how to at least trade some of their talent to garner some draft capital.

There were plenty of trade suitors rumored to be available from the Titans, and it’s no surprise that the team has talent, but after firing Brian Callahan, the roster is starting from scratch. For Barton, the linebacker has been one of the most consistent defensive playmakers after having a resurgent one-year stint with the Denver Broncos that earned him a long-term extension with the Titans. However, it’s hard to imagine him being a part of a team that is not going anywhere, and he’d benefit from a roster that wants to win.

Originally selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Utah product has a ton of potential. He isn’t the most impressive, but teams might be interested either way, for the untapped abilities he might have.

Possible Next Teams

Dallas Cowboys

Here’s a team that could be an ideal fit for Barton. The Dallas Cowboys have a fiery offense, which is something the team can’t afford to waste due to their defensive miscues. With the ongoing Trevon Diggs drama, it might be the right move to trade him along with at least a fifth-round pick in return for Barton. Dallas must figure out a way to pull this trade off if they want to see some type of life in their run defense. After trading away Micah Parsons, the depth hasn’t been the strongest this season.

Between Jack Sanborn and Damone Clark, they haven’t been the most productive out there. With that, they must find an upgrade to help an unproven Shemar James. Marshawn Kneeland and DeMarvion Overshown have yet to return, so if Jerry Jones is truly open for business, he should fire off this trade sooner rather than later.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have two straight winnable games against the Patriots and Falcons. There shouldn’t be any panic for this offense that always remains intact, but the defense could use some upgrades. Terrell Bernard and Matt Milano have been nursing an injury this season, so the Bills should at least trade for Barton due to depth. It would help relieve the stress for Dorian Williams and Shaq Thompson.

Carolina Panthers

While the Carolina Panthers are surprising plenty of teams in the league, it’s hard to imagine that they’re a legitimate winning postseason contender unless they win their next three matchups. After getting an upset win over Dallas, the Panthers have some life on offense led by quarterback Bryce Young. However, after releasing Jadeveon Clowney and Josey Jewell, they have yet to find a viable replacement. Barton won’t drastically strengthen the roster, but it gives the Panthers plenty of wiggle room to make some defensive plays to keep them in each game this 2025 campaign.
