Breaking: Former Super Bowl Champion “Mulling” For NFL Return – 3 Suitors Could Intervene

October 20, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After the Philadelphia Eagles lost Za’Darius Smith, former Super Bowl champion defensive end Brandon Graham is thinking about an NFL return. According to several sources, Graham is considering unretiring and joining the Eagles to help them on defense. The long-time veteran has always shown loyalty to Philadelphia, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if the Eagles bring him back on the roster for more run. However, Graham already went out on his own terms by winning a Super Bowl championship this past February, so it’s only a little odd that he wants to come back to the league.

Despite that, it shows what Graham is willing to do to help the Eagles potentially win a second straight NFL championship. Originally selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the former Michigan product is one of the league’s best defensive ends ever in Eagle history. Even though the team has found some life on offense and brought themselves to the winning column this past win against the Minnesota Vikings, it’s still up in the air for this organization. Fellow standout Jalen Carter is the lone defensive end who is currently the only one who can realistically save this unit.

With the team needing depth at the position, they do need Graham back on the roster to fill the hole in place of Moro Ojomo. However, there are several contenders out there that also have a defensive end need and could call up Graham to persuade him away from Philadelphia.

Breaking: Brandon Graham “Mulling” For NFL Return – 3 Suitors Could Intervene

Possible Suitors

Dallas Cowboys

Settle down, keyboard warriors, this is a huge long shot for the Dallas Cowboys. However, after coming close to an NFC Championship Game, the Cowboys must do everything in their power to exceed their expectations on defense. While the brutal beatdown against the Commanders is a possible preview, Dallas can’t get complacent here. They just came off an easy winnable game against the Carolina Panthers, so their defense is something to watch as the season progresses.

They’ve been able to upgrade the defensive end position this year by signing Jadeveon Clowney, but they might not be done. Sam Williams has yet to prove that he’s a viable run stopper and Dante Fowler Jr. is solid in only some moments when he has the majority of the reps out there. Graham can easily find his role in this unit alongside Clowney and put this defense back in the Super Bowl talk.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are continuing their win streak, and they’re arguably one of the best AFC teams this year alone. Quarterback Drake Maye is developing into the franchise signal-caller that they were hopeful for. However, there is room for improvement on defense. Milton Williams and Christian Barmore are a solid starting DE duo, but it wouldn’t hurt to get Graham in the mix. He doesn’t need to be full-time, but it wouldn’t be surprising if head coach Mike Vrabel wants to get Graham out of retirement for himself to make first-year impressions.

San Francisco 49ers

The same positive season is happening for the 49ers. At 5-2, head coach Kyle Shanahan continues to prove that no matter who the quarterback is between Mac Jones and Brock Purdy, he always ensures that the defense can pull its weight. After losing Nick Bosa for the rest of the year, the team could consider bringing Graham on their roster in a new scenery to fill the void.
