Breaking: Jets Reveals Asking Price for Superstar; 3 Destinations, Ranked

November 2, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite coming off a miraculous win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Jets are the worst team in football, so they could trade defensive superstar Jermaine Johnson before the deadline. It’s only one win for the Jets as the organization will need to start from scratch again, as Justin Fields has failed to be coached in the right direction to success for this roster. It wasn’t expected for the team to go far this season, but the abysmal year should motivate them to be sellers and trade Johnson, as he’s still an adequate defensive star when healthy. New York is likely to ask for a second-round pick at least, since they’re more willing to move on from Johnson than they are with Will McDonald.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Florida State product is surprisingly willing to stay with the Jets. However, the chances of that are slim, as the Jets could get a lot of draft capital here, and as long as they could negotiate at the right offer, they could get a lot of compensation for the linebacker. Johnson has been a locker room leader for the Jets and has changed this defense since his return to the team this season, but it doesn’t solidify his status as a member of New York. These three possible contenders could benefit from his presence, and it shouldn’t be a surprise if they ring the phone.
