Breaking: Latest Texans Brutal Injury May Signal Offseason Release – 3 Teams Who Could Save Him

November 20, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The season continues to worsen for the Houston Texans as they’re expecting to miss starting running back Joe Mixon for the rest of the year due to a foot injury. According to the breaking news, Mixon has missed most of the offseason with the injury that has been dwindling with his NFL career, and the Texans might have to make a tough decision this upcoming offseason. There’s hope that he could return for another season in 2026 since he’s still under control, but that’s something Houston will have to think about, as it’s a gamble to keep him at this stage. Originally selected in the second round and spending most of his career with the Bengals, Cincinnati traded him to Houston, where he recorded over 1,000 rushing yards and Pro Bowl honors.

This is where it becomes difficult. Mixon was just becoming a promising addition to CJ Stroud’s ground game, but he might not return to his old self. Houston attempted to make up for his loss by signing running back Nick Chubb, despite his own injury woes. As long as Chubb can stay healthy, the Texans might stick with him over Mixon, depending on what works for the Texans in terms of salary cap. If Houston does him a favor to let him heal up in the offseason, here are three teams that could take a chance on him to start fresh.
