Breaking: “Multiple Teams” Contacting Falcons Top Trade Candidate

June 2, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite having one of the worst campaigns last season, multiple teams have been reaching out to tight end Kyle Pitts this offseason. According to multiple reports, many sources have been given the green light that teams have been reaching out to the Atlanta Falcons about the availability of Pitts. The talks are still in the developmental stages as nothing is imminent yet, but it could come soon that the tight end may be on his way out. Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Florida product became one of the highest drafted tight ends coming out of that year, which stirred a lot of conversations about why the Falcons made the move.

Pitts had one of the best seasons in his rookie year, recording 68 receptions for 1,026 receiving yards and one touchdown. The tight end couldn’t stay healthy the following season after suffering a torn MCL in his right knee. Despite that, Pitts was hoping to change things around, especially when Michael Penix Jr. took over as the quarterback, but that didn’t happen since he couldn’t top at least 1,000 receiving yards since his rookie campaign. The tight end is entering the final season of his contract, and while the Falcons are rebuilding, there’s a chance that the team could trade Pitts.

There are still conflicting reports on why Pitts wasn’t present at the start of OTAs, but it will be a storyline to watch. If the Falcons decide to change their mind on Pitts, they could trade him to these three teams.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have been quiet for the majority of the offseason this year, but came back to salvage their wide receiver unit and trade for George Pickens. While they have two dynamic wide receivers on their roster now, they could do the same with the tight end department. Jake Ferguson is coming off his worst season last year, so since he’s entering the final year of his contract, the tight end is on the hot seat. The Cowboys could get Pitts for at least a year to take full advantage of Dak Prescott’s passing game while they can maximize the quarterback’s current contract.

However, Luke Schoonmaker doesn’t look like he will be around for long. He can’t stay consistent, so why shouldn’t the Cowboys stir up their passing game again and get Pitts?

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, eventually, they will lose Travis Kelce to retirement, and that will probably come next season. They haven’t found their next true dynamic tight end, even though they’re bringing Robert Tonyan to the starting squad. Noah Gray won’t single-handedly take over the department as a reliable tight end, so they need someone who has a ton of explosiveness. Pitts could bring long-term relief and be a keystone pass-catcher alongside Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.

Baltimore Ravens

Veteran Mark Andrews is still the subject of trade rumors before the 2025 regular season starts. Nobody will take Isaiah Likely’s job, but they need someone to pair with him as a reliable backup. Pitts is obviously still a starter in this league, but a chance to win a possible championship and pairing him with one of the best tight ends right now should be a no-brainer for Lamar Jackson’s offense.
