Breaking: One Shocking Ravens Blockbuster Trade May Happen

October 10, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Baltimore Ravens are 1-4 and might no longer be in the talks of a postseason contention, so they could make running back Derrick Henry available for a trade. According to a few reports, the Ravens may trade Henry for the right price if the team continues to lose in the following weeks, as quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to miss another week this 2025 campaign. Originally selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product had a resurgent season last year with the Baltimore Ravens after signing a two-year contract. Henry spent most of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, earning himself a starting role after spending at least two seasons as a backup.

The five-time Pro Bowler went on to lead the NFL in rushing yards in 2019 and continued to be one of the best running backs in the league. However, due to injuries and the Titans not being a winning roster, Tennessee decided to let Henry walk in free agency and signed with Baltimore, where he set multiple franchise records in his first year. Despite that, the veteran running back hasn’t looked the same this season after dropping at least three fumbles, so at age 31, his career might be winding down. If the Ravens lose the next two games, it might make sense to make him available for a trade to see what they could get in return before he gets older.

It’s hard to imagine they would do this since they just gave him a new extension this past offseason, but anything can happen in this league.

A host of Bills players stop Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry during first half action at the Buffalo Bills divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Jan. 19, 2025.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys may revisit the idea of bringing Derrick Henry to the team. They had a chance of getting Henry on at least a one-year contract two offseasons ago, but decided to stick with the guys they had. However, it didn’t pay dividends during the 2024 campaign when Dallas had one of the worst running back units. Despite that, the Cowboys might’ve finally found their long-term starter in Javonte Williams since signing him and Miles Sanders at the same time.

This doesn’t mean the Cowboys won’t trade for another running back. Sanders is a shell of his former self, and 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue is still going through growing pains. Henry won’t be in the league forever, so this trade might be the missing ingredient for the Cowboys’ offense that already has a solid passing game for Dak Prescott between CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Chicago Bears

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears were close to having a complete offense entering the 2025 regular season. After repairing the offensive line and drafting wide receiver Luther Burden, the Bears are putting together a reliable unit for quarterback Caleb Williams. The only thing missing is another strong, efficient running back, and Henry could create a 1-2 punch alongside D’Andre Swift.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are coming off a huge win over the once-unbeaten Buffalo Bills. With Antonio Gibson out with an injury and Rhamondre Stevenson having struggles as a reliable ball-carrier, they must find some ground game help. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel could make a phone call to bring back Henry to reunite with him in New England and create one of the most promising offenses that might wind up well-rounded for Drake Maye’s second year in the NFL.
