Since the Carolina Panthers have too many offensive weapons, they could cut former Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow before the 2025 regular season. According to a CBS report, they believe the Panthers would be willing to cut Renfrow depending on how the competition goes in the depth chart. Since he has to face between David Moore and Brycen Tremayne for the starting role, it doesn’t look like a real chance that he makes the roster anyway. The Panthers have Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, Tetairoa McMillan and Adam Thielen, who will likely emerge as the four frontrunners for this offensive pass attack.
This doesn’t leave for Renfrow to grow, who is looking to have a resurgent career in Carolina, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Clemson product was arguably one of the best Las Vegas Raiders pass-catchers on the roster before losing his spot to former wide receiver Davante Adams. Renfrow spent one season away from the league last year to keep his mind and body right before returning. Unfortunately, he could be out of a job soon, in the next few days, if Moore outplays him in the final practices before the 2025 regular season begins.

Breaking: Panthers Could Cut Former Pro Bowler Hunter Renfrow; 4 Possible Fits
Best Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs will probably lose Rashee Rice for a couple of games this season due to an impending suspension. This leaves Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown as the offensive weapons that can withhold the momentum, even though JuJu Smith-Schuster could somewhat keep the Chiefs intact. Anyways, they’d be better off getting another wide receiver to salvage this group, as they don’t need the most explosive replacement out there. Renfrow might be past his prime, but when you play behind Patrick Mahomes, he brings out the best in his receivers.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers could use one more wide receiver before entering a competitive 2025 regular season. The team is rebuilding behind Ladd McConkey, Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, but brought back Keenan Allen, so that tells you they could be moving away from Quentin Johnston. Allen is on a one-year deal, though, so they should take advantage to sign another experienced veteran like Renfrow to upgrade this group.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are building an old-school roster for quarterback Jayden Daniels and the offense to put them in the best spot to win a Super Bowl. From extending Zach Ertz and Bobby Wagner to signing Von Miller, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see how Renfrow wouldn’t be a fit on this team. The Commanders are still in a pause in contract negotiations with Terry McLaurin, so while Renfrow isn’t a WR1 anymore, he could provide some temporary relief behind Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey and Michael Gallup.
Dallas Cowboys
After losing Jonathan Mingo, don’t be surprised if the Dallas Cowboys keep an eye on the WR market. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are the top starters for this group, but the depth could be better. Jalen Tolbert is entering the final year of his contract, and the Cowboys could benefit from a veteran for the loss of Brandin Cooks this offseason. Hunter could play that role on a situational basis and keep this receiver room intact.
