Chiefs, Titans Connected in Possible Blockbuster Trade

August 24, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After signing cornerback Kristian Fulton this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs have a logjam in their secondary unit, and they could trade Joshua Williams to the Titans. According to a report, one source believes the Chiefs should trade Williams to Tennessee even though L’Jarius Sneed’s presence in that unit hasn’t been paying off for the team. Perhaps Williams’ joining the Titans could give some relief for the cornerback department, but there is no guarantee of that happening if Sneed hasn’t been able to live up to expectations. Sneed was the subject of trade rumors again this offseason, so it’ll be interesting if the Titans want to pull off another trade with the Chiefs similar to last offseason.

However, the Chiefs should be looking to trade Williams as he’s entering his final year of his rookie deal, and he’s also been brought up in some trade rumors as well. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Fayetteville State product hasn’t had a ton of attention in the secondary room since he’s listed as the third-stringer behind Fulton and Nohl Williams. Unless an injury happens to either Trent McDuffie or Fulton this upcoming 2025 campaign, no one should expect him to receive much playing time the longer he is a Kansas City Chief. Joshua Williams won’t garner the best draft capital if the Chiefs dangle him on the trade block, but these three teams might invest.

Other Suitors Possible

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have had plenty of question marks in their cornerback unit since the start of the offseason this year. Not only did losing Jourdan Lewis to the Jaguars hurt, but Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland are fighting for their starting jobs this 2025 campaign. Despite trading for Kaiir Elam to somehow salvage this cornerback unit, the Cowboys should continue to dissect as much talent as they can to see who can stay consistent. Diggs is injury-prone, and Bland is entering a contract year. Since they’ve been reluctant to pay their defensive guy, who’s to say they will even pay Bland at the right price come this offseason when he becomes a free agent?

If Dallas wants to play the chessboard on the right moments, they should trade for Joshua Williams as a safe, budget-friendly corner for a year to fend off the unproductivity the cornerback room may endure.

Los Angeles Chargers

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers have one of the deepest cornerback units, especially after acquiring Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste. The team had one of the best rooms last year, and it looks like it will be the same if 2024 draft pick Cam Hart can live up to the hype of being a starter. The good news is that they have Tarheeb Still and Ja’Sir Taylor, that is fighting for the 53-man roster spot. The Chiefs won’t trade Williams to their rival, but you never know what might happen at the right price.

Carolina Panthers

However, the Carolina Panthers have two high-level cornerbacks in Jaycee Horn and Michael Jackson, signing them both to extensions. The team is lacking depth, and this would easily be the most logical fit for Williams to break out in the secondary unit when you have safety Tre’Von Moehrig on the same roster. Williams might not get the chance to start, but he could play in a serviceable type role
