Minnesota edge rusher Boye Mafe is an interesting prospect for the Cowboys to consider. After losing Randy Gregory in free agency, there’s a role for an uber-athletic right edge player in Dan Quinn’s defensive line rotation. Mafe was used heavily as a rotation player for the Gophers, but still put together a solid career.
Thought to be a raw prospect, Mafe improved his stock considerably at the Senior Bowl, and Dallas loves to nab players who shine in the week of practice at the collegiate all-star game. Mafe is also a well-traveled young man, spending two years at a boarding school in Nigeria. Those sorts of experiences help mature a player, which should serve him well as a pro athlete. As for his football acumen, he is explosive off the edge and recently put on a show at the NFL combine, where he netted a perfect RAS score.
Boye Mafe is a LB prospect in the 2022 draft class. He scored an unofficial 10 RAS at the Combine out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 2 out of 2188 LB from 1987 to 2022.
It would be 9.91 at DE, where he’ll be switched to later.https://t.co/p4J650ySg6 #RAS pic.twitter.com/jxpkRlEDDH
