The Cowboys were coming off of a short week against the undefeated Panthers, who had an extended break after playing on Thursday in Week 3. Dallas took the challenge and throttled Carolina in the third quarter, en route to an impressive win.
The Cowboys’ offense was as advertised against the No. 1 statistical defense, with Ezekiel Elliott having his best game of the season so far. Dak Prescott didn’t even have to throw for 200 yards to get the win, scoring with four touchdown passes.
Without their star in Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers were clearly limited on offense as they were forced to rely on longer passes than the dump offs McCaffrey is so dangerous with. This worked to the pass rush’s advantage to the tune of five Dallas sacks. The star of the defense on Sunday wasn’t a rusher, though. Trevon Diggs continued his storied start to the season with a pair of interceptions of Sam Darnold, sparking the big run in the third quarter. Following the win, there’s a lot to take away and this week, it’s all positive in Dallas.
