Troy Aikman spent his entire career playing for the Dallas Cowboys, but the Hall of Fame quarterback doesn’t hold back when discussing his old team.
Earlier this weekend, Aikman expressed some doubt regarding Dak Prescott’s injury status.
“The Cowboys are downplaying it, but I think when your franchise quarterback is missing the amount of time he’s missing, I tend to think it’s probably a little bit more significant than what they have led on,” Aikman said.

Cowboys fans have mixed reactions to Aikman’s comment.
“I hate this dude, always dunking on the franchise that made him what he is,” one fan wrote.
“Or that he doesn’t work for the cowboys and is being fair and unbiased about them,” one fan replied back.
Another added: “Or, OR, it’s something that could linger all year if they don’t manage it properly, and so they’re making sure he’s rested for the regular season.”
The latter comment seems like the most fair.
Prescott is dealing with a shoulder issue, though he was able to do some “light” throwing earlier this weekend.
Dak Prescott did some light throwing for the first time since leaving practice July 28, according to coach Mike McCarthy. The coach said, “light throwing,” and followed up with, “light objects.” “We’ll see how his progression goes,” he said when asked if Prescott would throw Wed.

The Cowboys might be downplaying Prescott’s shoulder issue, but we’re still a month away from the start of the regular season. Dallas has some time to take things slowly with their franchise quarterback.
Prescott and Co. are scheduled to open the 2021 season on Thursday, Sept. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
