Cowboys injuries: Cornerback Caelen Carson suffers hyperextended knee, will miss 4-6 weeks

The Cowboys will be without Caelen Carson for 4-6 weeks due to a hyperextended knee.

The Dallas Cowboys continue to be ravaged by injuries. It was reported on Tuesday morning by ESPN’s Todd Archer that cornerback Caelen Carson suffered a hyperextended knee on Sunday (the first padded practice of training camp) and that he is set to miss 4-6 weeks.

Cowboys CB Caelen Carson suffered a hyperextended knee Sunday that will keep him out 4-6 weeks, according to sources. Thins out a position that’s been w/o Trevon Diggs, Shavon Revel, Josh Butler, who are on PUP/NFI, and DaRon Bland until Monday. Hence Christian Matthew addition.

As Archer notes, this makes the Cowboys’ Tuesday morning signing of Christian Matthew make a bit more sense. What goes up must come down, so to speak.

Carson’s injury is the latest one plaguing a Cowboys roster that is full of them at the moment. Monday alone brought news that Rob Jones suffered a broken bone in his neck (out 2-3 months), Parris Campbell has an MCL sprain (timeline there is to be determined), Brevyn Spann-Ford is going to miss a few weeks with an ankle issue and a dramatic change in news surrounding Tyler Guyton that initially looked like a torn ACL but ultimately was a bone fracture that will have him out 4-6 weeks as well.

Jones and Guyton both play along the offensive line, but other than that the injuries are impacting different position groups. As Archer mentioned, the Cowboys cornerback room already has Trevon Diggs and rookie Shavon Revel coming back from their own injury situations. Things are getting thin and we haven’t even reached the preseason yet.
