There are always going to be conflicting opinions on a team’s draft class until the rookies actually get on the field and do something. And no, rookie minicamp doesn’t count for much although it’s great to see football-adjacent activities happening for the first time since January. When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 class, their four-prospect haul from the first two nights of the draft has been a mixture of outlooks.
The most consistent early evaluation, however, has been that they made a great selection in Western Michigan’s Marshawn Kneeland with their second-round draft pick. A handful of draftniks had Kneeland being a fringe contender for the end of the first round and many outlets considered him one of the top 40 prospects. As is always the case, where a prospect lands in the league is almost as important as the baseline talent and it appears that the Cowboys may be the perfect fit for his services.
