The Cowboys news delivered.

2025 Dallas Cowboys training camp: Latest intel, updates – Todd Archer, ESPN

George Pickens lit up practice.

It was the George Pickens Show.

The wide receiver caught three touchdown passes from Dak Prescott in all kinds of varieties. The first was a go ball, where he started almost slowly off the snap and gradually gained speed before getting by cornerback DaRon Bland.

The second came on a crossing pattern in the back of the end zone with Prescott perfectly laying the pass to the back pylon. On the last one, he lined up inside and was able to find a seam between two defensive backs that gave Prescott an alley to throw a pass to his back shoulder.

The versatility of the routes is something that pleases Prescott.

“I don’t want to say I’m surprised, but he does have every tool in the bag,” Prescott said. “And it’s fun to be able to get out there in different periods, different throws, different kind of routes, different coverages for him to make plays, just shows he’s a big-time guy. To have another guy like that alongside [CeeDee Lamb] is just going to be fun.”

Practice Points: Offense digging ‘deep’ – Staff, DallasCowboys.com

Practice notes from yesterday.

Damone Deflections: With Kenneth Murray still not back at camp, Damone Clark has seen an uptick in snaps with the first team defense and continues to make plays, including a pass breakup on Dak Prescott who was trying to fit in a pass to Jake Ferguson in the seam. Clark seems to really be benefiting from Matt Eberflus’ scheme this offseason. – (Tommy Yarrish)

Too Eze: Rookie second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku has been one of the stars of training camp thus far, and had another good practice again on Thursday. His best rep came against Terence Steele, where he used his hands to blow past Steele and force Dak Prescott to scramble up the middle. . – (Tommy Yarrish)

Turpedo Speed – If one thing seems clear about the way the Cowboys are going to utilize their weapons – KaVontae Turpin is certainly one of them. And not just as a return specialist, either. Turpin’s versatility was on display in Thursday’s practice as the Cowboys ran a reverse to the speedster, who out of the backfield as a running back. Turpin followed Tyler Smith down the field for what appeared to be a big-gain of 20 yards before any defender could touch him. But a few moments later, as a receiver in the slot, Turpin got loose down the field for a deep ball, catching a perfectly-thrown pass from Dak Prescott for a 50+ yard touchdown. – (Nick Eatman)

Dak to Business: It’s tough to find a practice where Dak Prescott has diced up the defense like he did on Thursday. With multiple deep throws to Turpin and Pickens to set the tone, he was also connecting with receivers underneath the secondary as well. He appeared to work through his pre-snap calls with confidence and complete his post-snap progressions quickly as well. Overall, it was an impressive and efficient practice from QB1. – (Kyle Youmans)

Jerry Jones says Tyler Smith has tendinitis in his knee – Josh Alper, PFT

Hopefully nothing serious.

The Cowboys are dealing with another injury on their starting offensive line.

Left guard Tyler Smith left practice early and team owner Jerry Jones told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News that Smith is dealing with tendinitis in his knee. Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com said that Smith said he was fine while he was making his way inside under his own power.

Assuming that’s the case, Smith should be back on the field sooner than left tackle Tyler Guyton. Guyton is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after suffering a bone fracture in his knee earlier this week.

Right tackle Terence Steele also sprained his ankle last week, so the Cowboys would likely prefer that this is the end of injury news for their offensive line for a while.

Cowboys’ Doubted Trade Acquisition Is Lighting it Up at Camp – Michael Bohlin, Sport DFW

Kaiir Elam has become the star of training camp.

Trevon Diggs is still not ready to take the field and might not be back in the fold with the rest of the Cowboys defense until September, with the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout saying as much earlier this week.

That has opened up an opportunity for veteran cornerback Kaiir Elam. The former Florida Gators standout has made the most of it thus far, as he has been one of the top defenders on the practice field during training camp. That continued this week with Elam coming down with another interception, this time off a pass from Dak Prescott, where he showed off his ball skills as he stopped on a dime to pick off the attempt and turn upfield.

With Elam still on his rookie deal, he will earn just over $2.5 million this season. If he can keep this pace up throughout the remainder of training camp and into the regular season, that trade with the Buffalo Bills will look even better for Dallas than it does right now.

In 29 career games, Elam has recorded 81 tackles to go along with two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Those numbers were good enough to have him shipped out of Buffalo. The past is the past, though, and now Elam has an opportunity to rewrite the book on his NFL career with the Cowboys, and he is off to a great start.

Cowboys’ rookie cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. suffers setback with knee injury – Nick Harris, Star-Telegram

The list of injured corners keeps growing.

After dealing with some discomfort in rehab sessions at training camp, Dallas Cowboys rookie cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. is no longer expected to return from his torn ACL in time for the season opener, a team source tells Star-Telegram. Revel’s father also told 105.3 The Fan that his son’s recovery is expected to last another 6-8 weeks.

His injury is one of many that the cornerback room is reeling from heading into the season. Trevon Diggs is continuing to rehab from a bone chondral surgery that was performed in January, Josh Butler will rehab well into the season from his torn ACL that he suffered on Thanksgiving last season, Caelen Carson is expected to be out 4-6 weeks with a hyperextended knee and Andrew Booth Jr. missed practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury.

As the team hits the halfway point of training camp in Oxnard, the starting cornerbacks are expected to be DaRon Bland, Kaiir Elam and either Israel Mukuamu or Kemon Hall when the Cowboys line up against the Philadelphia Eagles in week one.
