Cowboys, Saints Could Connect On Blockbuster Trade

September 26, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

With the New Orleans Saints entering Week 4 and committing to the rebuild, they could trade long-time defensive end Cameron Jordan to the Dallas Cowboys. According to a source, they believe the Cowboys could target Jordan in a possible trade at some point during the 2025 regular season. This makes sense for both sides as the Cowboys are still looking for a pass-rush despite signing Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year contract. After trading Micah Parsons to the Packers, the hype for the Cowboys’ defense just isn’t there anymore, so they should get plenty of solid names a part of their unit and get them back in the groove of things.

On the other hand, the Saints have no use for Jordan as the team is not going to be in the playoff conversation for probably another two to three years from now. Originally selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the former California product is in his contract year and would be better off joining a contender than wasting his opportunities for a Super Bowl while in New Orleans. The eight-time Pro Bowler has always been an explosive defensive threat for opposing offenses for several years, and it’s time for him to finish off his career strong. The Cowboys might be in dire need of another veteran pass-rusher, but they’re not the only ones who will likely be interested in Jordan.

Cowboys, Saints Could Connect On Blockbuster Cameron Jordan Trade – 3 Other Possible Suitors

Potential Destinations

Washington Commanders

Despite finding a replacement for Deatrich Wise Jr. in Preston Smith, the Washington Commanders could continue to stack on veteran talent. With the team dealing with several injuries on both offense and defense, they might not have any choice but to fully embrace the old-school defense that they’re embracing. Sooner or later, the Commanders will need to give Jayden Daniels a massive extension, so they’re using this time to maximize his rookie deal.

Washington has always done well on defense, and it wouldn’t be the first time the Commanders and Saints exchanged in a trade. After acquiring Marshon Lattimore, the Commanders could call up Jordan at some point and give Javontae Jean-Baptiste some extra durability in the background and perhaps even start for this defense.

Los Angeles Chargers

Speaking of old-school, the Los Angeles Chargers have a similar mentality from head coach Jim Harbaugh. With everything going well for the team at 3-0, it’s time for them to take advantage of this moment and continue building. While they finally found another defensive end to help Da’Shawn Hand in Clelin Ferrell, Jordan could find his role in this deep defense group that already contains a ton of talent. The Chargers have enough cap space to pull a trade for Jordan and turn into a viable defense threat in this old-school scheme.

Baltimore Ravens

However, the Baltimore Ravens could be in dire need of some superstar defensive end help. While Jordan is not a defensive tackle, he could help salvage this line that might be without Nnamdi Madubuike for several weeks. They already lost Kyle Van Noy in the linebacker unit, and Jordan might be able to play a role to fend off the loss.
