As the Dallas Cowboys might look into rebuilding the depth of their offense, wide receiver Jalen Tolbert could be a potential trade candidate. After trading for George Pickens earlier this offseason, Tolbert has been fading in the background, and this could turn up the heat in possible trade rumors at some point during the 2025 regular season. Originally selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former South Alabama product was the subject of trade speculation as his production on the field is plummeting, and it’s only going to get worse, which means his value will dwindle. The Cowboys must start to think about life after him, especially if they have had plenty of opportunities to extend him.
If they were able to extend Jake Ferguson, DaRon Bland and Tyler Guyton before Tolbert only means his time might be coming to an end. The good news is that the slot receiver is still a reliable weapon in the league and can turn into something versatile for any team that needs an adequate receiver. However, the Cowboys wouldn’t make it easy to let Tolbert off the hook, while they will try to get the best draft capital in return, and maybe another player in return. It’s still a long season for the Cowboys and every NFL team out there, so these three teams might be interested in Tolbert at some point.

Possible Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently frustrated with their wide receiver core group, so they may soon be open to trades outside of rookie Jalen Royals, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice. These three wide receivers are the presumptive future of this passing attack for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. As long as they stay healthy, the Chiefs will continue to dominate and move the chains, but it hasn’t been like that this year. Worthy is nursing an injury, and Rice is serving a suspension.
The Chiefs may look into trading for Tolbert to give them a quick, adequate long-term investment in the receiver group that already contains a promising Tyquan Thornton, who is still developing. With that, the Chiefs should trade Marquise Brown to the Cowboys to give them a true veteran presence as a WR3 behind Pickens and Lamb.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers have a ton of momentum heading into each matchup after taking wins against the Chiefs and the Raiders. They can’t afford to let the hype die, so they must continue to upgrade and bolster the wide receiver unit to help Ladd McConkey in the slot. Tolbert won’t take snaps away from Keenan Allen or Quentin Johnston, but he could be a temporary presence to speed up their receiver corps while KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris develop.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are in dire need of new offensive weapons. Despite them having somewhat of a promising duo between Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker, the Raiders need a true weapon that can move the chains. Tolbert might not be a superstar, but he could provide the boost that the Raders may need.
