After putting a beatdown against the Washington Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys could still look for some defensive addition and trade for Arden Key before the deadline next month. Dallas has one of the best offenses in the league, so it’s hard to imagine they continue to progress their season this year without adding a prominent name to it’s defense. Tennessee Titans pass-rusher Arden Key is drawing trade interest again and it shouldn’t be surprising if the Cowboys look into acquiring him. Originally selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former LSU product isn’t the most explosive defensive playmaker, but has ton of potential to be a rotating piece.
After recording 30 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles, he’s a solid pass-rusher that would likely fit into the budget for Dallas. While Demarvion Overshown is returning soon, it shouldn’t stop the Cowboys from trading for Key. Damone Clark hasn’t been the most consistent linebacker out there unlike Shemar James and Kenneth Murray Jr., so Key could easily find his role in this defense that could slowly explode. The Cowboys can’t afford to tank the season anymore due to their depleted defense, they must find ways to make some type of improvement as this offense is hot.
Unfortunately, there are several teams out there keeping tabs on Key and these three teams could pursue him in a trade deal.

Other Possible Fits
Carolina Panthers
After releasing Jadeveon Clowney and Josey Jewell ths past offseason, the Carolina Panthers didn’t invest in any immediate upgrades, but only through the draft. While Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen are the future of their linebacker unit, but they could use someone like Key in that same room. The Panthers had a chance this 2025 regular season but they lost Bryce Young for at least a few games, so it doesn’t look promising for the team this year.
Key could establish himself as a reliable pass-rusher if DJ Wonnum departs after this campaign. He doesn’t need to be the best guy out there, but the Panthers have a need and could trade for him either way. If Young can return sooner than expected and change things around, this may pay off.
Buffalo Bills
However, the Buffalo Bills losing two straight games could call for some type of change either on offense or defense. While they don’t need any additions on offense, they need some insurance in their linebacker unit. With Matt Milano nursing an injury and Terrel Bernard could be missing time, the Bills should trade for Key. It’s obvious that the Bills want to get past the AFC Championship Game and find themselves in the Super Bowl this season, they should start by upgrading the defense.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts has one of the hottest offenses in the league too like the Dallas Cowboys. Zaire Franklin and recently acquired Germaine Pratt has established as a solid duo. Why not add someone like Key in that same spot? With Daniel Jones looking like a franchise quarterback, they must put the defense in the best position and Key is the start to something special.
