The Dallas Cowboys had the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The NFC East franchise selected Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott.
We now know that Jalen Ramsey thought he was going in that spot, though.
Ramsey said on a recent podcast episode that he was told by the Cowboys that he would be taken at No. 4 overall.
“When I was on my visit to Dallas, they told me straight up to my face, ‘If you’re there at four, we’re taking you,’” Ramsey told Ryan Clark on The Pivot Podcast. “But we don’t think you’re gonna be there at four.’ They said, ‘We think [the Chargers] are gonna get you at three, but if you’re there at four, if you’re on that board we’re taking you.’”

Elliott has been a very good running back for the Cowboys, but at this stage in their careers, Ramsey is the more valuable player.
“They could’ve had Ramsey and Pollard but have Zeke and Diggs lmao,” one fan tweeted.
“imagine taking a rb over the best cb we’ve seen in years,” another fan added.
“Before y’all call zeke washed and a giant mistake… he still rushed for over 1,000 yards while having a serious knee injury and has the most rushing yards since 2015, which is the year before he even entered the league. So think again before u start typing,” one fan added.
Perhaps Elliott will have a big bounceback year in 2022.
