Dak Prescott Reveals He Might Be On “Pitch Count” This Season

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been dealing with some shoulder soreness as the team kicks off training camp. Unfortunately, the issue may require Prescott to limit how much he can participate in practices this summer.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Prescott said that he might be placed on a pitch count once he returns to practice. He did not practice today or yesterday.

Fortunately, Prescott said that he should be fine. He reiterated that if it were the middle of the regular season, he would be suiting up and playing.

Prescott is coming off a serious ankle injury that cost him the final 11 games of the 2020 season. He’s barely stepped on a football field in the last nine months, let alone thrown the ball at an NFL level.

It’s not too surprising that the Cowboys want Prescott to keep things cautious until the games become meaningful.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he might initially be on a pitch count when he returns. He said he will be fine and if it was regular season he would still be playing.

After Dak Prescott suffered his injury, the Dallas Cowboys offense quickly became anemic. They went from a team averaging over 30 points a game to one that scored just over 40 in the span of a month.

Dallas would finish the season 6-10, missing the playoffs for the second year in a row.

But the Cowboys quickly made it clear how much they value Prescott by signing him to a lucrative contract extension in the offseason. He’s going to lead America’s Team for the next few years come hell or high water.

Will Dak Prescott’s pitch count reduce his effectiveness in the regular season?
