Dallas Cowboys DeMarvion Overshown Estimated Return Date

April 9, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

DeMarvion Overshown Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a very disappointing 2024 NFL season. The defense was a big reason why. Although this unit was nagged by injuries, it was one of the worst in the NFL last season. However, 2025 is a new year, and the Cowboys’ defense has received some good injury news regarding linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

Dallas Cowboys DeMarvion Overshown Estimated Return Date

Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown faced a significant setback in December 2024 when he suffered a severe knee injury during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Overshown ended up tearing his ACL, MCL, and PCL, which led to season-ending surgery. This was particularly disheartening as he was having an excellent first season with the Cowboys, racking up 90 total tackles and five sacks in 13 games. However, Overshown is now projected to return around November of 2025, just in time to help Dallas make a playoff push.

What his return means for Dallas

DeMarvion Overshown’s potential return should significantly bolster the Cowboys‘ defense. Prior to his injury, he had an impressive 2024 season. His versatility and athleticism were crucial to the defense last season.

The Cowboys’ 2024 season was marred by injuries, contributing to a disappointing 7-10 record. The loss of key players, including Overshown and quarterback Dak Prescott, significantly impacted the team’s performance. As they prepare for the 2025 season, the Cowboys aim to stay healthier next season.

Looking ahead

Frankly, free agency was a disappointment for Dallas. They did not make any major splashes in free agency. While they brought in defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. who is coming off a 10.5 sack season, this move alone will not take the Cowboys to Super Bowl contenders. DeMarvion Overshown will return mid-season, and Fowler will help the Cowboys’ lackluster pass rush. However, this team and defense have other holes to fill.

NFL Draft

This will turn the franchise’s focus toward the upcoming NFL Draft. The Cowboys have a lot of options in the first round, whether they want to bolster the offense or defense. On offense, Dallas could use an outside threat next to star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Some names that the Cowboys have been rumored to be connected with include Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden. Both of these players would be very intriguing for Dallas at pick number 12, if they choose to bolster their offensive supporting cast for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

Better season in 2025?

The potential return of DeMarvion Overshown, combined with an intriguing draft class, positions the Cowboys for a more competitive 2025 season. Overshown’s athleticism and playmaking abilities are crucial to the Dallas defense. Micah Parsons is a superstar for the Cowboys. However, football is a team sport, and Overshown is an integral part of this defense. The team’s success will hinge on the health and performance of key players, as well as the effective integration of new talent into the system.
