The NFL has officially released the 2025 Dallas Cowboys schedule, with many fans that are anticipating a turnaround season. Last year, the team had one of the worst campaigns in organization history, but they made several key offseason moves to light up the excitement. After trading for George Pickens, the team is in a good place, especially for quarterback Dak Prescott, who is ready to take his team back for another quest in the Super Bowl hunt. He missed the rest of last year, and with a new backup, Joe Milton, there’s a lot of pressure on Prescott to improve.
It should be a lot of fun if the two battle it out for the starting position. However, the biggest storyline is whether Micah Parsons and the organization will finally come to an agreement on a new deal. If that happens, it will be icing on the cake for the Cowboys and their chances to return to the postseason again. With the NFC East finally getting competitive again, many should anticipate most matchups to be in a nail-biter.
Prescott knows how to win those close games, but the biggest question is how he can fare under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Many were thinking that the Cowboys were probably going to tank, but after the Pickens trade and Jaydon Blue being drafted, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. The Cowboys can’t afford to have another losing year, and whenever Prescott has a “down” season, he tends to pick up the slack the following year. With that, strap in your seats, here are the three most exciting matchups.

Dallas Cowboys Schedule: Three Most Exciting Matchups for 2025
1. Week One: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Old Bitter Rivalry
The Dallas Cowboys will kick off the 2025 campaign against the Super Bowl defending champions, the Eagles. Everyone should anticipate coming down to the wire, as the Cowboys have a promising pass offense, while Philadelphia has a strong running game. Pickens has a chance to prove he could be a capable wideout alongside CeeDee Lamb against one of the best pass defenders in the league. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper Dejean were able to stop Patrick Mahomes and his tricky plays during the Super Bowl, so this matchup should be a back-and-forth that will likely come down to a field goal.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts always finds a way to defeat Dallas when they’re hurt, but can he do the same when Prescott returns? Every fan will have to see what goes down.
2. Week Three: Dallas Cowboys vs Chicago Bears
The Return of Eberflus
This should be an interesting defensive game, especially since the Cowboys are traveling to Chicago, which may be in the bitter cold. Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus will return to face his former team while he installs his philosophy in his new team. The last time these two met, the Cowboys won in a near blowout in 2022. However, it’s a new culture for the Bears, and there are a lot of good things happening there, such as not only a new quarterback, but a solid offensive and defensive line.
Many should expect Prescott and Caleb Williams to struggle for the entire matchup since both defenses will be on their feet all game long.
3. Week Seventeen: Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Commanders
Christmas Showdown in DC
For the first time since 2010, the Dallas Cowboys will battle it out near the end of the season on Christmas Day. This should be good for viewers to watch as Dak Prescott and Jayden Daniels will finally face off. The last time these met in FedEx Field, the Cowboys won in a nail-biter fashion despite having a plagued roster. It should be a matchup that will have fans with their eyes glued on the television, as no team should have any other excuse but to play at their peak.
