Defensive linemen and linebackers will be the first players to go through the NFL scouting combine, with on-field workouts coming Thursday. Both just so happen to be areas that the Cowboys should be especially interested in.
Pro scouts have watched plenty of college tape and coaching staffs have made visits to the collegiate all-star games, but combine performances will start to really fine-tune the big boards of most NFL teams as the 2024 draft approaches. And it’s not just the 40 times and cone drills; don’t underestimate the effect a solid in-person interview can have on a prospect’s… well, prospects.
There are dozens upon dozens of players to keep an eye on as the festivities in Indianapolis get underway, but only one who the Cowboys will be able to choose with the 24th overall pick. This is by no means a comprehensive look at every D-lineman and linebacker worthy of consideration (if that’s how the team elects to lean) in the early going, but it is a primer of a few of the names we’ll all be hearing a lot more about over the next two months.
