ESPN Analyst Has Blunt Reaction To Ezekiel Elliott’s Performance vs. Buccaneers

September 11, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott against the Rams.

Dak Prescott played like a superstar against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. Unfortunately his sidekick, Ezekiel Elliott, was a no-show.

Elliott ran the ball just 11 times for 33 yards against the Bucs’ stingy defense. He didn’t even make much of an impact in the passing attack, catching two passes for six yards. For a player in the midst of a contract worth upwards of $90 million, the Cowboys need more out of the former star running back.

It’s not just that Elliott didn’t get many touches on Thursday night. His effort was called into question. The Cowboys running back didn’t make many cuts, couldn’t outrun opposing defenders and looked uninterested in trying to win the game. It was a bizarre performance, to say the least.

ESPN’s Ryan Clark spent a few minutes discussing Elliott’s performance during Friday’s edition of Get Up. He couldn’t help but blast the Cowboys running back for his disappointing performance.

“I don’t care how skinny you are, I don’t care what diet you’re on, it’s about making plays,” Clark said on Friday. “And 13 touches on 63 snaps, with that low of production, that ain’t worth $90 million.”

Take a look.

.@Realrclark25 said Ezekiel Elliot “got elite left tackle money” 😳

He’s right. Ezekiel Elliott’s performance was highly disappointing. He needs to be better, especially for Dak Prescott.

Prescott put the Cowboys on his back Thursday night. He completed 42 of his 58 pass attempts for 403 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. That should have been good enough for the Cowboys to beat the Buccaneers. It wasn’t, and Elliott’s performance is a big reason why.

If the Cowboys are going to have a special year, they need better play from Elliott.
