At least one NFL Draft analyst believes the Cowboys found a late-round gem on Saturday.
After Dallas selected LSU linebacker Damone Clark 176th overall in the fifth round, ESPN’s Matt Miller reacted to the pick on Twitter.
Saying, “Dallas getting Damone Clark feels like a steal.”

Seemingly the only thing holding Clark’s draft stock back was the spinal fusion surgery he had after a herniated disk was discovered the the Combine.
That said: size, speed and production. That’s what Clark brought to Baton Rouge as an inside LB.
In 12 games last season, Clark tallied 135 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, a pair of fumbles and an interception. All while playing at 6-3 and around 240 pounds.
The surgery is likely to sideline the LSU product for all of the 2022 season. But, the Cowboys have shown patience before at the linebacker position. Evidenced by their selection of Jaylon Smith in 2016; who turned into a Pro Bowl player.
