Defense is the biggest mystery surrounding the Cowboys this upcoming season. Ezekiel Elliott has liked what he’s seen so far in training camp.
Elliott praised the Cowboys defense several times while talking to reporters on Thursday. He mentioned the defense seems “refreshed, super confident and lots of energy,” per Jane Slater of NFL Network.
We wouldn’t expect Elliott to say anything else about his own team, but he’s also not obligated to give out praise whenever he speaks to the media. And it has to be feel good to hear good things about the defense if you’re a Cowboys fan.
The Cowboys should win the NFC East with ease this upcoming season if they get even average play from their defense this fall.

The good news for the Dallas Cowboys is that they’re pretty healthy; most importantly, Dak Prescott is back and healthy. The Cowboys quarterback suffered a gruesome season-ending injury last year, but should be ready to go in Week 1 of the upcoming season.
Elliott, meanwhile, had a rough showing during the 2020 campaign, but that’s not all his fault. With Prescott out, opposing defenses were able to key in on Elliott to shut down the Cowboys’ running game. He won’t face the same issue this upcoming season.
As long as Elliott and Prescott stay healthy, the Cowboys offense will be as dangerous as ever. And as long as the defense plays well, it should be a good year in Dallas.
