A great, modern-day Texas philosopher once shared this infinite nugget of wisdom. “There’s an old saying in Tennessee – I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee – that says, fool me once, shame on – shame on you. Fool me – you can’t get fooled again.” When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys and free agency, if you’re still getting fooled, well, you’ve never drove through Tennessee.
The Cowboys might be the only NFL team that actually waits until it’s legal to talk to other teams’ free agents. The legal tampering window opened Monday morning and, as expected, there was a flurry of activity. It’s not the most top-heavy free agent market, but regardless there are players who could probably help Dallas try and get over the top. But Dallas appears to yet again not be interested in the first wave of free agency; an annual tradition.
Why? Because of their philosophy about who deserves to get their money.
