There have already been nearly a dozen trades involving first-round draft picks leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft. But Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes his team might be next.
Speaking to the media this week, Jones suggested that he would be willing to trade up in the NFL Draft. His Cowboys currently have the No. 24 overall pick and nine total picks. But only three of those picks are in the top 100.
“I would trade up in this draft. Just going in, I would trade up since we are as low as we are in the first three rounds. If we had somebody that we really coveted that was sitting at the bottom. (Center Travis) Frederick was sitting there down at the bottom (in 2013).”
Cowboys fans aren’t entirely sure what to make of this statement. Some think it might be a smokescreen to bait out trade offers while others think he might be interested in trading up in the second- or third-round rather than the first:

This indicates trading up from 56 not 24.

The Dallas Cowboys have found no problem finding superb value in the first round of the draft in recent years. Star linebackers Micah Parsons and Leighton Vander Esch, all-world running back Ezekiel Elliott and starting wide receiver CeeDee Lamb have all been first-round picks by the Cowboys.
2022 is going to be a crucial year for the Cowboys though. If they can’t make a deep playoff run this year then it’s possible head coach Mike McCarthy will be fired.
Jerry Jones is going to be working extra hard to make sure he gets this draft right. Maybe that will include a trade to get some extra value.
Will the Dallas Cowboys trade up on Draft Day?
