In what has become a mantra of no real meaning at this point, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has declared that his team is “all-in” on the upcoming NFL Draft.
In an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones said that he’s proud of the current roster and what they’ve done in free agency. He said that the team is “all-in” now and “all-in on the draft.”
“We’re very proud of this roster. We feel very, very good about the promise of this roster this season. We feel great about what we’ve been in free agency. We’re all-in. We are all-in on the draft,” Jones said, via Clarence E. Hill, Jr.
As many have started pointing out, the repeated use of the “all-in” mantra when the team hasn’t really done anything of substance to improve the team feels more like Jones is gaslighting fans into believing that the team is improving when in reality they’ve been stagnant – at best.
“Jerry trying to convince himself everything is fine as the room burns around him,” one user replied.
“This gaslighting (expletive),” wrote another.
“There is a large group of the fanbase that continually to defend this front office through decades of failure & it is because of y’all this conman can say this bs. You all fall for it,” a third user wrote.
At this point, fans seem to want actions and not words from Jones before they get hyped for the coming season. The team has been so inactive in free agency that it’s hard to blame them too.
