HBO got some great content for this year’s Dallas Cowboys edition of Hard Knocks earlier today.
During a joint training camp practice between the Los Angeles Rams and Cowboys in Oxnard, California, LA superstar Aaron Donald and Dallas offensive guard Connor Williams got into an on-field scuffle.
Williams jammed up Donald at the line — something that rarely happens to the six-time All-Pro pass rusher. Clearly not taking the lost play very well, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year got tangled up with Williams in some post-whistle hand fighting.
The fourth-year Dallas lineman took Donald down to the ground, crashing to the turf with nearly 600 lbs of combine weight.
The crowd at the Cowboys’ training facility went nuts as both teams rushed to surround the practice-field wrestling match.
Here’s a clip of the incident:

Just as he has for the last seven years, Donald led the Rams’ defensive unit in 2020 to another outstanding year. Through his third straight 16-game season, the superstar defensive tackle logged 45 tackles and 13.5 sacks — marking his fourth season in a row with double-digit sack totals (including a league-leading 20.5 in 2018).
While Williams doesn’t quite have the resume that Donald has, he should be primed for a breakout year in 2021. After starting 11 games for the Cowboys in 2019, the former No. 50 overall draft pick suffered a season-ending ACL tear. Fortunately for Dallas, he was able to return and start all 16 games in 2020 — serving as a solid blocker on the left side. With a year of recovery and full-time starting reps under his belt, Williams could make yet another jump in 2021.
Unfortunately for fans looking forward to seeing this rivalry bloom during the regular season, the Rams and Cowboys are not set to face off in 2021.
Los Angeles will kickoff its season with a matchup against the Chicago Bears and the Cowboys will take on the Buccaneers.
