Former Dallas superstar Michael Irvin is one of the many members of Cowboys Nation upset about Sunday’s Wild Card loss.
During a recent appearance with 105.3 The Fan, Irvin explained why the Cowboys were unable to get the job done against the San Francisco 49ers.
The former five-time Pro Bowler stuck the blame on Dallas’ star offensive weapons.
“Emmitt [Smith] and I stood in that tunnel before every game. We looked at each other, we called ourselves double trouble, by land or by air. Before we hit the field, we said, ‘If we don’t show up, we got no shot. Period.’ That’s the whole reason we did that, because we knew if we didn’t show up, we got no shot,” Irvin explained, per Cowboys insider Jon Machota.
“Our stars didn’t show up [on Sunday]. We had no shot,” he added. “Whenever you got disorder [you get] dysfunction. We can’t have our stars putting up role player numbers like 31 yards rushing, one catch for 21 yards, 69 passer rating. And then have our role players putting up numbers like [Dalton] Schultz and [Cedrick] Wilson.
That’s a disorder. Trying to make our role players stars and our stars role players. That’s a disorder and a team dysfunction.”

Through the Cowboys’ devastating 23-17 loss, star QB Dak Prescott completed just 53.5% of his passes for 254 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Elliott took 12 carries for 31 yards and CeeDee Lamb had just one catch for 21 yards.
Each of these stars performed well below their season averages.
