Of course every NFL coach wants to win, but Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has made it his New Year’s resolution.
When asked if he had any special resolutions for 2022, the franchise leader gave a simple and telling response.
“I have one clear professional one: it’s to win,” McCarthy said, per Cowboys insider Todd Archer. “Win. Keep it simple for you.”
Bill Belichick would not play along regarding a New Year’s resolution, but Mike McCarthy did. “I have one clear professional one: it’s to win,” he said. “Win. Keep it simple for you.”

This resolution would simply be a continuation of what’s already the status quo for Mike McCarthy’s squad. The Cowboys have now won four games in a row to move their season record to 11-4.
While this 2021 regular-season record is impressive, it’s the team’s performance in early 2022 that really counts. Having clinched a division title, the NFC’s No. 2 overall seed has plans for a deep postseason run.
McCarthy and the Cowboys will have an early chance to make this resolution come true with a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Jan. 2.
