It’s time. The Dallas Cowboys have issued new jersey numbers to 10 members of their team, which means the regular season opener is now on countdown status. During the summer when teams have 90-man rosters, there’s often a duplication of jersey numbers between some members of the offense and defense.
While the Cowboys don’t officially retire jersey numbers, some are off limits and with that number reaching double digits, doubling up is a must. Now that the roster is whittled down to 53, along with 17 players on the practice squad, a ton of numbers were available and have now been assigned to various guys whose spots weren’t exactly secured at the start of OTAs back in the spring.
#Cowboys jersey update for Week 1:
Caelen Carson – 21
Amani Oruwariye – 27
Emany Johnson – 33
Nick Vigil – 41
Darrius Harris – 47
Carl Lawson -55
Ryan Flournoy – 80
Princeton Fant – 85
Brevyn Spann-Ford – 89
Phil Hoskins – 96
And with that, it’s time to look at the roster of players eligible to suit up against the Browns on Sunday. Dallas will choose from this group their 47 game-day actives, which can be 48 if the additional player is an eighth (or more) offensive linemen. This can also include up to two practice squad call ups, with each player having three chances to be elevated before the club has to make a roster decision on them.
