Futbol temporarily dethroned football as the big story inside AT&T Stadium on Thursday, with the announcement that the Cowboys’ home venue will be one of the hosts for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. At least one Cowboys superstar helped make the announcement (and showed off his leg), while it’s already clear that a significant alteration will have to be made to the field in order to accommodate the global soccer tournament.
Elsewhere, Mike McCarthy says the team “crossed the finish line” with their minicamp work and canceled the last two days of practice. The team crossed another kind of line earlier, though; an OTA session apparently got too rough for the second year in a row and will now cost the club an OTA in 2023… and cost McCarthy a hefty chunk of change. All that, plus a player in the spotlight is revealed to be dealing with an injury, Jerry Jones and the mayor of Dallas kiss and make up after their public spat over a second NFL club, and the Deshaun Watson case could end up dragging Jones’s name into the mud by reviving a seedy story involving the team.
