Michael Irvin’s time at NFL Network is reportedly coming to an end.
According to the New York Post, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver will not have his contract with NFL Network renewed. This isn’t a huge surprise considering the network laid off a plethora of big names.
Irvin, a three-time Super Bowl champion, joined NFL Network in 2009. He was a key member of their “GameDay Morning” show that aired every Sunday during the season.
NFL Network suspended Irvin in February 2023 after he was accused of misconduct by a hotel employee in Arizona. After he settled his $100 million lawsuit with Marriott, he was reinstated.
There’ll be plenty of fans saddened by this Friday’s news. You don’t even have to be a fan of the Cowboys to appreciate the energy that Irvin brings to NFL Network each weekend.
Unfortunately, Irvin isn’t the only marquee name leaving NFL Network. It was previously reported that Melissa Stark, Andrew Siciliano, Will Selva and James Palmer have been let go.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the New York Post learned that “NFL Total Access” will conclude later this month.
Suffice to say, NFL Network’s programming for the 2024 season will look a lot different.
