Hard Knocks returns tonight at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. For the third time in the show’s history, the stage belongs to the Dallas Cowboys.

Expect the Cowboys, whom Forbes valued at $6.5 billion last week, to do plenty of brand advertising. The NFL’s wealthiest franchise has a global reach and plenty of history to draw from for Hard Knocks storytelling. Just this past weekend, Jimmy Johnson, who coached Dallas to two straight Super Bowl victories over Buffalo (1993-4) was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Owner Jerry Jones has never shied away from the spotlight. HBO will have cameras on the 78 year-old team president through the ups and downs of Cowboys training camp. Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy are a lock for some fiery conference-room exchanges at their facility in Frisco.
Perhaps headlining this year’s show is quarterback Dak Prescott, whose devastating leg injury effectively ended Dallas’ 2020 season. Even after Prescott went down, the Cowboys gave him a four-year, $160 million superdeal, securing his future with America’s Team. Dak’s lower body is reportedly ready to go, but he’s recently been battling a shoulder injury. He did not make the trip to Canton for Dallas’ preseason loss to Pittsburgh at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Football can’t get here fast enough.
REMINDER: HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks: The Dallas Cowboys’ premieres tonight (10 pm ET).

Lastly, running back Ezekiel Elliott finds himself at a career inflection point. The three-time Pro Bowler has a lot to prove after a lackluster 2020 season in which he averaged a career-low 4.0 yards per rush.
Elliott and Prescott reportedly share a cool moment in tonight’s episode.

With the most dramatic owner in the league and copious storylines to boot, Hard Knocks 2021 figures to be a particularly memorable iteration of the docuseries.
