During a press conference on Wednesday, longtime Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced some new sponsorships for his franchise — including Nike.
In making that announcement, Jones made a truly unfortunate blunder.
When telling a story about how he once welcomed former world No. 1 tennis player Monica Seles and Nike founder Phil Knight to the sideline at Texas Stadium, Jones accidentally referred to the eight-time Grand Slam champion as “Monica Lewinsky.”
Here’s a clip of the mistake:

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this embarrassing slip-up.
My goodness gracious…… Jerry Jones just referenced Monica Lewinsky by mistake because he forgot the name of tennis great Monica Seles.
Unbelievable. pic.twitter.com/t1kq3kziZp

Jerry Jones was trying to explain his deal with Nike and Phil Knight and how he brought tennis player Monica (Lewinsky) to Texas Stadium.

Jerry Jones just confused Monica Seles with Monica Lewinsky as he spoke about removing Coke as a sponsor and replacing them with Pepsi and partnering with Nike and Phil Knight.

Accidentally name-dropping Monica Lewinsky, when he actually meant Monica Seles (I think?), is peak Jerry.

In addition to their partnership with Nike, the Cowboys are also now the first NFL team to partner with cryptocurrency company — joining forces with Blockchain.com. Jones also announced the decision to drop Coca-Cola and pickup rival Pepsi as a new sponsor.
