Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was considered a hot commodity for this year’s coaching cycle, and yet, it turns out he’s not going anywhere this offseason.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, teams interested in Quinn were informed that he’s staying with the Cowboys for the 2022 season.
Quinn interviewed with six different teams for their head coaching vacancies. He was a finalist for the Chicago Bears’ job, but he was bested by Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
As you’d expect, Cowboys fans are thrilled that Quinn will be back in Dallas for at least one more season.
“Yes sir,” a Cowboys fan tweeted. “This is awesome news!”

Of course, some fans believe Quinn is just setting himself up for a better role in the future.
“He knows he can be the Cowboys’ head coach next season,” an NFL fan said.

“I’m gonna say the Bears job was what he wanted,” a second fan said. “And when Bears decided to go with Eberflus he decided it was best to return.”

Dallas finished the regular season ranked seventh in points allowed and 19th in yards allowed. That’s a significant improvement from last year’s numbers.
If Quinn has another stellar year in Dallas, he’ll be considered a popular candidate for next year’s coaching carousel.
