The Cowboys special teams unit is hanging onto its ace.
The cornerback who plays mostly in the third phase of the game for coordinator John Fassel will return to Dallas in 2024 on a one-year deal, as reported Thursday by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
It will be the seventh year on the Cowboys’ roster for Goodwin, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and bounced around on six different squads before landing with Dallas in 2018.
Cowboys are re-signing free-agent defensive back and special teams player CJ Goodwin to a one-year deal, per source.

Goodwin played well to start 2023, getting in on over 70% of the Cowboys’ special teams snaps in each of the first four games of the season, until a pectoral injury suffered in the Week 5 loss to San Francisco ended his season.
The 34-year-old out of Division II’s California University of Pennsylvania has finished with the most or second-most special teams snaps in every other season he’s been with the Cowboys, apart from his first year.
