Rob Jones will reportedly be out 2-3 months due to a broken bone in his neck.

The Dallas Cowboys woke up to bad news on Monday.

It was reported early in the morning by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Todd Archer that offensive lineman Rob Jones suffered a broken bone in his neck during Sunday’s practice, the first padded one of the season. It was noted that Rob will miss 2-3 months.

Sources: Cowboys guard Rob Jones, who has been working with the starting unit during the early part of training camp, broke a bone in his neck during Sunday’s practice and now is expected to miss 2-3 months, per @toddarcher and me.

Simply put this is horrible for Rob Jones. We are all rooting for him to get healthy as soon as possible.

Football is, obviously, a physical game and one where injuries unfortunately happen. This was as noted the first padded practice of the season and there were not reports of anything involving an injury as the day unfolded. Obviously there was work done after the fact.

To this point in camp Jones, a free agency acquisition by the Cowboys, had been impressing and providing a point of leadership for first-round pick Tyler Booker. That he has to miss time is a big letdown and means, from a where-do-they-go standpoint, the Cowboys are going to have to shore up their depth along the offensive line.

All the best to Rob Jones in his recovery.
