REPORT: Saints Named Fit for Top Free Agent – Cowboys, Commanders and Ravens Could Intervene

The New Orleans Saints could be a fit for free agent wide receiver Amari Cooper before the 2025 regular season starts. Cooper has yet to find an NFL home as one’s the top free agents in the league, but he could sign soon at the right price with a new team. Logan Ulrich of NFLTradeRumors made a list of the best free agents still available and made a fit for each, explaining why Cooper could be a fit for the Saints. It’s easy to see why the Saints could be a good team for the former first-rounder since head coach Kellen Moore and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier know him.

This would spark the old chemistry they had in Dallas that could possibly rejuvenate the Saints’ offense after having a chaotic offseason since almost every week something new happens with the team and it’s not a good thing, unfortunately. Following the Derek Carr retirement, no matter who becomes the next signal-caller for this franchise, they need to be put in the best position. The Chris Olave trade rumors have been heating up lately, and there aren’t signs of them slowing down, so it shouldn’t be surprising if Olave is in a new uniform come week one this upcoming season. Cooper would not only bring some elusiveness to the team, but his presence could be something that may put Moore in a better spot to start off his coaching tenure in New Orleans, and Cooper could be that answer

Back in Dallas?

Assuming that Cooper hasn’t lost a step in productivity, he could go back to his old self in Dallas. After trading for George Pickens this offseason, the Cowboys might not be done yet to add another pass-catcher to put quarterback Dak Prescott in the best position. Both of them know each other, and this new triple threat of CeeDee Lamb, Cooper and Pickens could get the Cowboys back in the mix of postseason contention and a competitive force in the NFC East. Cooper brings a bit of a bigger frame and his physicality to fight for yards should be good business for the Cowboys.

Prescott is recovering from his injury very well, and adding his old friend could not only give him two, but three capable wideouts for the entire 2025 campaign.

Other Fits

Meanwhile, it shouldn’t be surprising if head coach Dan Quinn becomes interested in another former Cowboy reunion. After bringing back Michael Gallup out of retirement, they could add Cooper in the mix as the WR2 wide receiver with Terry McLaurin and just a bit ahead of Deebo Samuel. Luke McCaffrey and Noah Brown won’t get the biggest snaps this season, even though McCaffrey has a lot of untapped potential. However, Cooper could be the new temporary keystone wideout for this Washington offense to find a bigger spark.

Despite that, the Ravens will need a new wide receiver either way if Rashod Bateman can’t stay consistent. He continues to float in trade rumors, and if he leaves, it would be bad news for Zay Flowers since DeAndre Hopkins will likely retire after the season. Cooper is no permanent fixture for a team’s offense anymore, but he could provide some stability while the Ravens develop more talent in the background.
