Surprise Suitor “Could Be One to Watch” For Dolphins Jalen Ramsey Trade

May 27, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Miami Dolphins will trade Jalen Ramsey before the start of the season, but nobody knows which team will take on his contract. While a reunion with the Los Angeles Rams is possible, recent reports indicate that Miami’s unwillingness to eat any dead money is slowing down a potential deal. This has allowed other teams to enter the bidding war, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Dallas Cowboys could make a move for the future Hall of Famer. Dallas is an interesting fit, but they won’t be the only teams pursuing Ramsey.

It’s worth noting that, barring something completely unexpected, the Miami Dolphins will not trade Jalen Ramsey before June 1st. Trading him before that date forces the Dolphins to take on a $25 million dead cap hit, but if they wait a week, they can spread the dead money over two seasons and lower his dead cap hit to just $6.74 million. This means the Cowboys, along with teams like the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers, have some time to make a compelling offer to the Miami Dolphins.

Yesterday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN mentions the #Cowboys “could be one to watch” for a Jalen Ramsey trade.

Why? They still have a need at the position and have shown to be aggressive this offseason with trades.

Nothing imminent; just something to monitor.

Fowler: Cowboys Could Emerge in Jalen Ramsey Trade Sweepstakes

The Dallas Cowboys are an interesting trade partner for Jalen Ramsey, as you wouldn’t think they’d need a cornerback at first glance. Trevon Diggs and Da’Ron Bland are an above-average duo when healthy, but Diggs has only played in a combined 13 games over the past two seasons. The Cowboys can save over $9.6 million by trading him after June 1st, and Ramsey could take his place on the roster.

The only question is whether the Cowboys can afford to trade for a high-cost playmaker like Jalen Ramsey. Micah Parsons is due for an extension, and there’s a very real chance the edge rusher resets the market with a record-setting deal. Seeing as Dallas already spent big on Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, one must wonder if Dallas can justify a fourth high-priced playmaker.

Other Fits

The Baltimore Ravens have a strong cornerback duo in veteran Marlon Humphrey and 2024 first-round pick Nate Wiggins. However, when you share a division with the Cincinnati Bengals and a conference with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Chargers, you need as many good cornerbacks as you can find. The Ravens have narrowly missed multiple trips to the Super Bowl and must do something to get over the hump. A Jalen Ramsey trade could be the missing piece for John Harbaugh’s squad to hoist their first Lombardi since the Joe Flacco days.

Nobody expects the Carolina Panthers to win the Super Bowl in 2025, but that shouldn’t stop them from pursuing a Jalen Ramsey trade. Head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan fixed the offense last year, providing a stable offensive line and nurturing Bryce Young’s development. Now, they turned their attention to the defense, and Ramsey could form a strong secondary with Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson. Assuming Young continues his development, this secondary could be enough to win a weak NFC South.
