Dallas Cowboys star running back Tony Pollard suffered a broken leg/high-ankle sprain during his team’s Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers in January.
On Thursday, the Cowboys’ No. 1 rusher spoke to reporters for the first time since this season-ending injury.
Pollard says he’s “ahead of schedule” when it comes to his recovery process and expects to be fully cleared for the start of training camp.
“I feel like I’m faster,” he said, per Cowboys insider Todd Archer.

This past season, Pollard supplanted Ezekiel Elliott as the Cowboys’ No. 1 rusher. In his first Pro-Bowl campaign, the former fourth-round pick recorded 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground, and 371 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
Pollard signed a franchise tag worth a fully-guaranteed $10.091 million back in March. The two side have until July 17 to sign a potential longterm deal.
With the release of Elliott earlier this year, the Cowboys will call upon Pollard even more than they already did this coming season.
