What are you most interested in watching at training camp for the Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys will report to Oxnard, California for training camp next week. The first official practice kicks off July 22, but pads don’t come on until about a week later on the 27th. That’s when things will start heating up and when we will finally begin to understand what this team is potentially capable of in 2025.

Right now, there are answers and questions throughout the roster, on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Here is what to watch for throughout training camp and preseason at each position for the Dallas Cowboys. First, we’re going to address the offensive side of the ball.

Quarterback

While it’s going to be interesting to monitor Dak Prescott’s health and how he bonds with George Pickens, the thing to watch at the QB position in training camp for the Cowboys is Joe Milton. No disrespect to Cooper Rush, but Milton’s youth, athleticism, and strong arm finally adds some intrigue/excitement to the QB2 position behind Prescott. It’s going to be really entertaining to see how the second-year QB attempts to establish himself in Dallas.

Running back

There’s not just one thing, but several, to watch at the RB position once training camp and preseason gets underway for the Cowboys. The entire position will be under the microscope and heavily scrutinized from here on out. Both Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders look to be neck-and-neck with one another for the RB1 job right now and Jaydon Blue is expected to add an explosive element to the offense as runner/receiver.

Wide receiver

At the WR position all eyes will naturally gravitate towards Dallas’ new weapon in the passing game, George Pickens. He’s already been praised as a perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb and gives Dak Prescott arguably the best WR duo he’s played with in his career. Beyond that, it’s going to be really interesting to see if Brian Schottenheimer will incorporate KaVontae Turpin more in the offense, and if he does, how he’s utilized.

Tight end

After a disappointing, injury-riddled season in 2024, Jake Ferguson is expected to bounce back in a big way this year. With the attention CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens should receive in the passing game, Ferguson should get a lot of opportunities and could have a career year in 2025. Also, keep an eye on the potential position battle between Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford. They could be competing for the TE2 job.

Offensive line

Everyone will no doubt be watching to see how Tyler Guyton performs in Year 2 at left tackle coming off a disappointing rookie season. He needs to take a big jump in his development and will play significant role in Dallas’ success or failure this year. Other than him, rookie Tyler Booker will command a lot of attention as well. He’s not only replacing a future Hall of Famer in Zack Martin, but making a position switch from LG to RG in the NFL.
