Rain couldn’t wash away another lackluster night at the dish
The Texas Rangers scored one run but the Tampa Bay Rays scored five runs.
I won’t offer the 2025 Texas Rangers any excuses because they simply don’t deserve them. However, it is crazy how every time they exit their palatial estate in Arlington, the weather out on the road is inconducive to playing baseball and yet they’re asked to play baseball regardless.
Whether it was playing in arctic conditions in Chicago back in April, or during the rain-slicked dreary evenings in New York last month, or, you know, just Seattle in general, the Rangers have apparently been the squad that has played in temperatures lower than any visitors cumulatively throughout the league. Or it was that way in May. Maybe that has changed. I don’t know.
The point is, maybe the Rangers can’t get hot because they’re literally getting cooled. It wasn’t particularly chilly in Tampa, FL tonight, but it was wet and rainy and the game was paused for about 20 minutes because the Rays no longer play in a venue with a roof.
Anyway, none of this actually matters. Both teams had to be out there. The Rays scored five runs while doing so and the Rangers had four hits.
Player of the Game: They let Adolis Garcia play in the game tonight and he pinch hit and reached base with one of Texas’ four hits and scored the Rangers’ only run.
Up Next: The Rangers return to George M. Steinbrenner Field potentially with RHP Kumar Rocker in tow while the Rays will send RHP Shane Baz to the mound.
The Wednesday evening first pitch from The House that CBS Built is set for 6:35 pm CT and will be aired on the Rangers Sports Network.
