Minnesota gets their revenge
The Texas Rangers scored two runs but the Minnesota Twins scored six runs.
The Rangers were unfortunate enough to play in one of the five or so games that Byron Buxton is healthy for each season tonight. The Twins’ leadoff hitter reached in each of his plate appearances while contributing a walk, double, stolen base, and a massive three-run shot off tonight’s starter Jack Leiter that turned a 2-0 Texas lead into a deficit that Minnesota only added to.
The loss clinches a losing road trip for Texas with one more to go tomorrow in Minneapolis.
Player of the Game: I suppose you can’t expect 16 runs every night, but the Rangers followed up their 16-run outburst last evening with just two runs tonight.
At the very least, Marcus Semien continued his recent turnaround with a solo home run. The second inning solo shot was Semien’s seventh of the season, with three of those coming during this road trip.
Up Next: The rubber match and road trip finale comes tomorrow with LHP Patrick Corbin set to pitch for Texas opposite RHP Bailey Ober for Minnesota.
The Thursday afternoon finale from Target Field is scheduled for 12:10 pm CT and will be aired on the Rangers Sports Network.
