A very nice victory
The Texas Rangers scored 16 runs while the Minnesota Twins scored three runs.
When this road trip began, the Rangers were coming off the high of a home series win against St. Louis to open up the month of June. By the time the first leg of the trip concluded, things never felt lower as Texas was swept in Tampa including an egregiously embarrassing finale loss.
Once the Rangers lost the opener in Washington in under two hours with perhaps their worst performance at the plate all season, things looked quite dire. Perhaps that was the nadir of legend?
Since that two-hit shutout loss against the Nationals, the Rangers have rattled off four wins in five games to claim the final two series of this road trip. And though they finished 4-5 overall, after starting the trip 0-4, the series wins feel like a nice accomplishment and a definite turnaround for Texas.
More proof toward that assessment is the fact that the Rangers outscored Minnesota 34-13 in this series. Indeed, after the 16-run outbreak on Tuesday, the two runs scored in last night’s loss became the aberrant total for this series as today Texas piled 16 more runs on the Twins.
Like Tuesday, the Rangers got production up and down the lineup with only Corey Seager failing to collect at least one hit, though he did draw a couple of walks. The Rangers got home runs from Josh Smith, Jake Burger, Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Adolis Garcia, and Sam Haggerty. Four Rangers — Langford, Burger, Garcia, and Haggerty — drove in three runs apiece and Smith led the way with three runs scored.
Player of the Game: In addition to his three runs scored, Smith drew a walk and had a couple of hits with his first being a leadoff home run on the game’s second pitch to set the tone for Texas.

Up Next: Perhaps feeling a little better about themselves, the Rangers return home to open up a series against the White Sox with a yet to be named starter for Texas against recent Rangers farmhand Adrian Houser for Chicago in the opener.
The Friday evening first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT and will be telecast via the Rangers Sports Network.
