When is the west coast sliding off into the ocean like we were promised?

The Texas Rangers scored four runs but the Seattle Mariners scored five runs.

Bad news: The Rangers lost.

Good news: This weeklong road trip that lasted 20 years is over.

Bad news: Jacob deGrom wasn’t very good.

Good news: The heat death of the universe will someday render this series moot.

Bad news: Twice, in consecutive innings, deGrom allowed an uncharacteristic two-out walk and followed that by allowing an even more uncharacteristic two-out, two run home run to kill either a Rangers lead or tied game.

Good news: The Astros lost.

Player of the Game: Adolis Garcia had a 3-for-3 day with a walk and a home run that brought Texas to within a run in the sixth. He also double and scored the then tying run in the fourth before Seattle’s second two-out, two-run killing blow in the bottom of the inning.

Up Next: The Rangers thankfully fly far away from the west coast but don’t get a rest before taking on the Wild Card spot holders from New York. LHP Patrick Corbin will make the start in the opener for Texas against LHP Max Fried for the Yankees.

The Monday evening first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT and will be shown on the Rangers Sports Network.
