Evan Carter has been reinstated from the bereavement list
The Texas Rangers have activated outfielder Evan Carter from the bereavement list, the team announced today. To make room for him on the active roster, the Rangers have designated Billy McKinney for assignment. With McKinney being DFA’d, the Rangers’ 40 man roster now stands at 39.
Carter had to be activated today, so the only question was who would be dropped to make room for him. There’s a case to be made for sending Alejandro Osuna down to play every day and keeping McKinney up to sit on the bench and play just once or twice a week, but the Rangers are sticking with Osuna for now.
Another move should be happening tomorrow, when Wyatt Langford is eligible to return from the injured list. At that point, I would expect that Justin Foscue would be sent down to make room for Langford, although Michael Helman is still up and could be sent out instead.
